I do love getting emails out of the blue that contain modified twins. This time its from Buenos Aires Argentina. It's great people all over the world share the same passion. This bike was built for a customer by German Karp & Federico Lozada and started life as a 2011 T100 and boasts 19" wheels, Dirt track tires, seat is by German Karp, the chassis has been cut and "looped", custom tail and front ligth. The front end has Renthal bars with the controls removed. Arrow Exhaust make it sound as good as it looks.

Built this Bonneville for my brother in Norway. Was shipped from Sydney to Oslo last year and is drawing some much deserved attention in the street. Started out with a stock silver Bonnie and went to Matt Bromley (ex head mechanic at Deus) with a picture of what I wanted done, made the "mock up" it in paint. He delivered and then some!

Everything started one year ago. My best friend decided to change his Scrambler Matt Green 2009 MY because of scratches all over the right side of his bike caused from a fall. A that time I decided to disassemble the Scrambler and do it again like the one that you know.
After six months : Single seat, short and curved rear frame, aluminum fenders, aluminum side panels, Ohlins shocks and front forks internals, relocated rear brake caliper and master cylinder, front brake master cylinder, front MX pegs, MX chromed bar, air injection elimination, 2 into 1 low exhaust system, air filter, spark plugs, fuel injection remapped, and even a different engine oil to keep the engine noise quite. I have to admit that I have tried to build a higher exhaust system, but I quit because the sound was not what I was looking for.
And there is one more thing that I quit, as Keihin Distributor for Italy, I would like to mount 2 Keihin FCRs on my bike. But who knows in the life. The tank was also something that I wanted to fix, but there is a test done on 'The Making of' page with an old Triumph tank, anyway I am making an aluminum tank prototype, but again with the pre 70s tank in mind.
I have also eliminated all the allens screws.
I am completing the tests of the rear brake caliper bracket, I will offer MX bars, Keihin carbs of course, exhaust systems, aluminum parts, rear frame mods, and … complete bikes??????

Ok, I've not been a big fan of the RSD's for obvious reason as his Triumph builds have been ... well crap. Some might disagree but hey this is my blog, so therefore my opinion. The Shaun White build at first was to say the least well within expectations of RSD. The gauge they originally put on was so horrific Im amazed Triumph didn't take legal action, then again maybe they did as its not on the final bike. Which to be honest looks OK. This is Shaun's first bike and choosing a Triumph make Shaun an OK guy... ( But next time Shaun get your hands dirty and do it yourself )... and what a first bike!. It would appear 'Shaun has been paying more attention to styles' and wanted things to be a little more 'simple'. Good skills Shaun, its not about the bling with these bikes, Im sure Shaun knows style is important.

Ok...its really Roland Sands, I doubt anybody across the pond has a bloody clue who Roland Rat is, but lets just say he was this really fucking irritating puppet on breakfast TV and there in lies the similarity. Roland is still building a Scram for Sean White, oh lucky Sean! Here is the concept drawing. Not a bad looking bike to be honest, but obviously Sean White has no fucking idea what a spanner (wrench) is or he would save some money have more fun and do it himself. (google brit slang for spanner) and lets face it, famous people who do it themselves are ALWAYS far cooler.

As a fan of the late great Steve McQueen as well as Triumph motorcycles, I didn't know if I should of laughed or cried when I saw this blatant attempt by Triumph to cash in on the McQueen name - I like the McQueen T-Shirts and other memorabilia Triumph produce but is this going a little too far. McQueen may well of ridden a disguised Triumph TR6 in the movie 'The Great Escape' but is that reason enough to produce 1100 copies of a Triumph that was meant to be a German BMW and lets not forget it was Bud Ekins who did the actual fence jump that made the The Great Escape so popular! . Maybe it's not the motorcycle or McQueen that should be remembered, but the story of the murdered British and Commonwealth servicemen this movie is based on (excluding the McQueen character who never existed). Then again, the movie would never of been made and the story never told, if it hadn't been for a big Hollywood star...anyway I digress.... I'm not a fan of this limited addition Bonneville, that bottomless parts bin has been raided again, but each to their own or should I say 'Go you own way' as long as its not over a barbed wire fence in Bavaria... that could get messy and you might scratch that satin paint.

Triumph has joined forces with the estate of Hollywood icon Steve McQueen to create a limited edition motorcycle that pays tribute to the late actor’s love of the British brand’s products. Based on the classic Bonneville T100, just 1,100 of the Steve McQueenTM Edition will be sold worldwide. Featuring a host of modified parts, the design is inspired by the Triumph Trophy TR6 that McQueen insisted on riding during the famous stunt scene in The Great Escape, and features a military-style Matt Khaki Green livery, stencil-style Triumph decal on the tank and the actor’s signature on the side covers. Featuring a solo seat and black luggage rack, the McQueen bike has also been fitted with a rugged skid plate and small black-bodied headlamp. The Triumph Steve McQueenTM Edition features a host of other blacked out components, including wheel rims and hubs, handlebars, rear springs, mirrors and front mudguard supports. To confirm the bike’s provenance, each machine is individually numbered with a plaque placed on the handlebar clamp, while owners will also receive a certificate of authenticity with their machine. Full details of Triumph’s new-for-2012 models will be announced at Triumph’s press conference at EICMA, held on stand H26 at 12:30 local time on 8 November.

Posted a pic of this little Cafe Racer a while back, but didn't have any information on it [here] It would seem you can buy one of your very own from Gilsons The Bikers of Cornwall who build them and this is their Type 1. Gilsons also do a very nice bobber, the Type 2. I will see if I can get more information on the company and the bikes. Until then here is a snippet from their website

We love the classic cafe racer style, they are bikes reduced to the basics for maximum fun
and purposeful styling. Those 50's/60's Nortons, BSAs and Triumphs embody the spirit of biking. However owning one is more of a curiosity; compared to a modern bike they don't quite do it for us in terms of performance, handling and braking. Then there's the maintenance to keep them in peak condition. For us; bikes are for riding not fiddling.
So for our cafe racer it made sense to utilise Triumphs modern vertical twins from Hinckley. The engines are bullet proof whilst maintaining the classic look. Sadly Triumph had to severely compromise their modern vertical twin bikes, type approval emission laws and some dodgy styling leaves them a little castrated.
Our Type 1s are ground up rebuilds of current Triumph production bikes, with every part rebuilt or replaced with re-designed items. We dispense with the power strangling airbox and emission systems, replace the wheezing exhausts, Ikon shocks, Intiminator™ fork valves with Amsoil, 6 pot brake calliper, aluminium upsized rims, sport rubber, custom tank, seat and bodywork, Tarozzi adjustable clip-ons with all new controls.
The rebirth transforms the bike. It handles like its on rails, gone is the pogo of the standard bikes, it tracks excellently and the engine power is up 20% - the torque pull is phenomenal - oh and you can stand it on its front wheel with these brakes.

Base Model:

2007 Triumph Thruxton 865 Twin, Carb model.

Modifications:

Removal of air injection system and airbox, replaced with K&N filters and re-machined carbs with upgraded jets complimented with a free-flowing exhaust system for better breathing and an approximate 20% increase in power.

Clutch, alternator, front sprocket and timing covers polished to high shine.

Standard frame stripped and powder-coated.

Re-furbished front forks, changing the damper rod internals to a valve system as used in modern sports bikes. Powder coated fork-bottoms.

Billet aluminium 6-pot front calipers. Master brake cylinder re-machined to allow for a better connection to the reservoir which has been replaced with a more discreet one. Braided brake hoses all round.

Ikon adjustable shock absorbers.

Wheels are new alloy rims for reduced un-sprung weight - powder-coated with stainless steel spokes on standard hubs. Front wheel is standard size, rear is 3/4" wider - allowing a 150 rear tyre to fit properly (Avon roadrunners front and rear). Rear swing-arm is powder coated.

New chain/sprocket gearing changed to 19T front and 42T rear for improved highway cruising.

Re-designed hand-made fuel tank with twin push/pull brass valves and Monza cap.

Hand-made seat to suit the tank and bike styling.

Re-designed tail section with custom mudguard and light assembly.

Tomaselli fully adjustable clip-ons with re-designed switchgear, controls and grips.

Motogadget single gauge for revs and LCD for speed and oil pressure etc, housed in a restyled dash and improved ignition system to improve looks.

Re-designed front loom to accommodate new gauge and switchgear.

Hand-made side panels.

Complete 100% strip and re-build replacing all operational parts such as bearings, seals and bushes.

Motogadget gauge showing 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

I amaze myself in many different ways but even this one caught me off guard... why the hell had I not spotted this build thread before! - Could it be I don't spend enough time on the internet surfing for modified Hinckley Twin. Maybe I need help! in more ways than one. This bike is pure home grown custom build and the builder has little experience, not that you could tell and this bike is better that what some 'professional' builders churn out.

Co-Built are currently working on a Bonneville project for Dael, who has contributed to Bonnefication on many occasions by finding stories and pics on modified Hinckley twin (No... I really don't spend all my time doing this blog) 'Co- Built is a rider-ownded company based in Oxford England who build motorcycles from the ground up, modify road and race bikes and make very high- quality specialised motorcycles componenets.' Some of which can be seen on the Spirit of the Seventies Bike. These are some seriously talent people when it comes to fabrication and are well worth giving a call if you have a project you would like looking at. I will be personally following this build with interest as there a few thing I will be getting them to do for me.

Spotted this Triumph Bobber on the Pangea Speed website and what a beauty. The builders of this little baby didn't just slap on an after market exhaust, raid the branded accessories range and proceed to bury a perfectly good bike under more crap bi-jazzle than is decent. Pangea Speed put a little bit of effort into creating something worth looking at. Andy at Pangea Speed started by cutting off the rear portion of a damaged 2007 Bonne and welded on a custom hard tail, then he fabricated an electrical box, headlight fairing, rear fender, fender struts, pipes and foot control mounts. I posted a pic of a very nice red wheeled Triumph Bobber a week or so ago, details of which have now been supplied by Steven Heglar of Modern British Designs Inc who produces the bolt on back end seen in the image.

'Approximately two years ago my wife and I decided to turn our hobby into a company that specializes in designing, manufacturing and building Hinckley Triumph aftermarket parts and motorcycles. I recently viewed a picture of a Bobber with red wheels on your web site and wanted to give you a little more information. That particular motorcycle is owned by British Customs. The Bobber conversion is a kit my company designed and manufactured.
Attached are a couple of photographs of the 2007 Bonnie belonging to my wife that I used to create the Bobber Kit. The kit is a complete bolt on with no welding. I designed it to be as garage friendly as possible. I know that this particular style is not for everyone but I really enjoyed developing it.
I also attached some photo's of my recently completed Scrambler project in homage to Steve Mcqueen.

Gold medalist Shaun White (American professional snowboarder, for us who don't know) sent a brand new Triumph Scrambler to the guys at Roland Sands Design to have a little 'tweaking'. Roland Sands Design not wanting it to look like every Triumph on the road replaced the heavy stock exhaust with a lightweight Arrow 2 into 1 unit [Oh.... what an original idea, I doubt many Scramblers have one of those!] The stock gauge cluster was also ditched and replace with a HD sporty headlight [I think that might be a crime here in the UK]. Fabricated stainless mount for the headlight that houses the new Motogadget motoscope mini.[Oh Christ really.... I mean really!!!]

Roland Sands Design will be doing more to this bike over the coming months (oh good I need a laugh - sorry but so far this build is shocking!)

Found a 1939 Moris Eight Series E in an garage near me in 1990- After a bit of work I sold her to someone who could spend the time and the money on its restoration.... made a tidy profit when I sold it. This is the only pic I have left of her. Wonder where she is now.

Kev Taggart and Tim Rogers at Spirit of the Seventies (who apparently 'Love the Seventies') have been busy chopping bits off and fabricating new bits for 'S6' Spencer's Scrambler project. These guys have produced some great work such as their Yamaha XS650 Tracker which was featured on BikeExif recently. Looking at their Facebook page these guys don't just love their bikes, they like myself are keen on anythings with an engine and probably a few things without.

I try and pick up every modified Hinckley Triumph as I can but some slip through and are never seen unless you sit at home on a Monday morning with nowhere to be chilling surfing the interweb.... One such bike is this 2006 Triumph by Garage Company of Inglewood CA. (I think I missed this one, but I cant be bothered to surf through my own archives this morning and its better to post twice then to of never posted at all) Nice machine nevertheless.

Satin Black - Reminds me of Ed China, the guy from 'Wheeler Dealers' on Discovery.... "Im going to paint this is satin black" I wouldn't be surpassed if Ed China had painted his house in satin bloody black...he must get the stuff in bulk!

So….. Who are we?? (didn't I just ask that? - Ringa)

Roy Norton and Thomas Kasher are our real names. (Roy is 6’4″ and looks like a Giraffe, and Tom??……. Well he’s a Gok Wan look-a-like gypsy.) We are both pretty down-to-earth and hope to think we are likable chaps. Rod ‘n’ Todd was coined by our good friend Mark Wells’ wife, Jenny. and has stuck with us to this day. We both have a passion for all things cool, including motorcycles. We set out within this project to create a bike which filled the void of cool bikes for the younger generations, and provide a solution to appeal to exsisting riders and hopefully draw in a new crowd completely. The Project will eventually be displayed at the New Designers 2011 show in London, but there is a lot of work has to happen between now and then. So Howay, let’s gaarn!!

Deus Bali is to become the sole distributor Triumph motorcycle on the Island of Bali. Well that is good news for the inhabitants of Bali.I wouldn't mind getting shipped off to Bali myself. Deus have just taken delivery of a couple of Triumph Thruxton SE's, Im sure they wont be around for long. So if you live on Bali and are after a brand spanking new Triumph you have better get down there and snap one up before someone else does. I wonder if the other Deus shops will become Triumph dealers too, answers on a postcard.

The guys (Monkeys) at Wrenchmonkees have done a seriously nice job on this... Monkee#32 which was built for a client in Holland. Wrenchmonkees have also been busy producing another Hinckley based twin for Hook Motors who are the exclusive distributor for WM parts and accessories of Italy - Hook Motors is the fruit of the collaboration between a designer, an unrested traveller and the Wrenchmonkees. Eager to share their passion for beautiful motorcycles and style, they are opening their first workshop, Hook Motors in Bologna.'

Lately the Wrenchmonkees have been focusing their attention on working on more modern motorcycles. Today they have release the very first pictures of the T100 that is sitting in my garage awaiting for her new home Atelier Hook Motors Bologna to be completely ready. The T100 is a pure Cafe Racer machine, low and aggressive in a beautiful British racing green colour. It has a long list of specs, but I will talk about it in a later post.

Today they have also published some picture on another amazing Triumph, this one is a naked and it is the one I wanted to talk about today. The list of specs is long: Kawasaki tank, Wrenchmonkees seat, Supertrapp exhaust, new handle bars and motogadget, new front and rear lights, new tyres, new front fender, custom battery box, Bitubo shocks, also the bike has been lowered of 3 cm. This one is going to Holland, but if you want a similar Wrenchmonkees Triumph for Italy, we can do that.

For the sixth year, enthusiastic fans of the Triumph brand descended on the town of Newchurch in Austria. Regardless of the English weather a total of 21,000 participants from 19 nations formed the largest TRIUMPH-party in the world. As in previous years, the program included around the clock live music, stand up comedy ( how funny is an Austrian stand up comedian?) tours and test drives, but above all the spectacular stunt show. The highlight of the weekend was the showing of Tridays-Eleven on Friday evening a highly modified Hinckley twin that has had the magical touch from many of Europe’s top builders such as Q-Bike, LSL, Ivo Tschumi, Michael Schönen.

Hi there, thought I'd send you a couple of pics of my 2004 Bonnie black. Slowly getting there, just changed from western bars with single seat to the Ace bars and Thrux seat. Ikon rear suspension and fork springs. Rejetted carbs with large bellmouth and Tors, also have reverse cones which I may put back on soon. Farnham mild tune with airbox removal is next on the list.

I was comparing prices of off-the-shelf parts from companies such as Jenks Bolts [UK] and Cafe Twin [Italy]. Im up for supporting British based companies, but I was amazed at how different the prices are. For example, to buy the MAS alloy rear mudguard, it will cost you £196 inc delivery from Jenks. The same item shipped from Cafe Twin in Italy will cost you £172 inc delivery (depending on exchange rate) you wont pay any duty on that either! - Not complicated on who would be getting the order!

Or you could just buy an alloy mudguard from eBay for £34 and make it fit

A weekend of mixing with middle aged (going on 70) brits dressed like unwanted extras from 'Easy Rider 2 - 20 years on' The Movie!. It should be a fun weekend regardless (Unless there is a stampede when the Harley accessories stand do 50% off on all chrome items... that could be messy, those guys often weight 300lbs easy!)
Hope we get some good weather for the show as there is seven miles of the best beaches in the UK just outside (shit surfing, but they do try) .... what could be better than bikes, beer, girls and a beach ( Oh and laughing at surfers surfing ripples)!
